He was bloody great. A true artist, never resting on his laurels, always reinventing himself, trying new things, and until he died he was always on the lookout for interesting new acts and using his influence to help them out.
Unlike a lot of the other stars from the 60s, he still had a lot to offer, so was truly a sad loss.

After a few months of lockdown and watching lots of crap on YT, I came across Ricky Gervais' podcasts. They are quite strange because they are not an act, just him chatting whilst drinking, but there are some real gems in there. One of them was his revealing his accidental friendship with Bowie, its one of the nicest things I heard anybody say about Bowie and what a top bloke he was. He was also one of my favourite ever musicians, I think he was a genius.

I was born in 67.early memories of his records stand out more than others. A bold statement but possibly the best English Singer, songwriter, performer we’ve ever produced.we are without a shadow the best The bloke was quite simply a fucking genius.

Good evening.
My life is going swimmingly, thanks.
You seem a little hostile to someone who has had a drink and indulging in some reminiscence.
Lose the bitterness son, you'll be a better person. X

For me, he is the greatest.
Reinvented himself several times. Never rested on his laurels. Always trying something different. Never let the record industry dictate him.

Not bad from a kid from South London, and I haven't said many good things about people from the Surrey side.

Got away with The Laughing Gnome.
Isn't there a song about a pervy gravedigger and another about a middle aged man who marries a way too young girl in his repertoire?
